The Nylex Digital Weather Station Pro is a complete home weather system: an outdoor sensor reading temperature, humidity, wind and rainfall, and a large LCD console that reports all of it indoors. It suits gardeners who would rather work from conditions measured in their own yard than from a district forecast.

What it does

  • Five measurements, one display. Temperature, humidity, wind, rainfall and barometric pressure all report to a single LCD console, with indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity tracked separately.
  • Wind and rain in detail. Readings cover wind direction and either gust or average wind speed, plus rain rate daily, weekly and monthly.
  • Calculated indices. Dew point, wind chill, heat index and Beaufort level are worked out for you, alongside barometric pressure and a moon phase display.
  • Memory and alarms. Data is stored for the past 24 hours, and HI and LO alert alarms flag the thresholds you set.

How to use it

Install the sensor outdoors in an open position, clear of walls, eaves and paving, since shelter and reflected heat are the usual reason a home station reads warm. It transmits up to 100m in line of sight, so the console can sit well inside the house, though walls and distance eat into that figure and the display has to stay in range to keep updating. The unit measures 150mm wide, 385mm deep and 280mm high, so allow real shelf depth. Wipe the screen with a dry cloth.
