The Worm Affair Live Organic Worm Starter Pack is a colony of live composting worms, supplied in packs of 500 or 1,000. Rather than a scoop of adults, each pack is a balanced mix of adults, juveniles, cocoons and babies, which is what lets the population build and hold instead of peaking and crashing. It is what a new farm needs on day one, and what a struggling one needs to recover.

What it does

  • A colony, not a headcount. Adults start work immediately, juveniles mature into the next wave and cocoons keep the population climbing as feeding grows.
  • Arrives ready to work. The worms travel in moisture balanced bedding with a pre packed food supply, so they are fed and settled when the box is opened.
  • Turns waste into fertiliser. The colony converts kitchen and organic waste into castings and liquid, diverting it from landfill and returning it to the garden.
  • Two pack sizes. Choose 500 or 1,000 worms to match the starting quantity your farm calls for.

How to use it

Open the pack on arrival and add the worms to an established farm or to fresh prepared bedding, tipping the supplied bedding in with them. Keep the bedding moist but never waterlogged: damp like a wrung out cloth is the target. Go easy on food for the first week while the colony settles, then build up the feeding as they work through what you give them. No assembly is needed and there is nothing to mix. Feed at the rate the worms consume and the system stays odourless.
