StoneLite Bung Planter

The StoneLite Bung Planter is a rounded, tapered pot cast from glass-reinforced concrete, so it carries genuine concrete looks at about a third of the weight. It comes in six sizes, from a 28 x 29cm pot at 3kg through to a 100 x 100cm at 60kg, in 11 finishes. It is one pot family that works indoors, on a terrace and as a courtyard centrepiece.

• Concrete presence you can lift. The 48 x 48cm holds 77 litres and weighs 10kg empty, so one person can set it in place. The reinforcement shrugs off knocks that crack an ordinary cast pot.
• Eleven finishes across every size. Raw Concrete, plus White on White, Neutral Grey, Shale Grey, Concrete, Monument, Charcoal, Night Sky, Pale Eucalyptus, Terracotta and Paperbark Half.
• A paint system with a guarantee. The custom-spray colours are Dulux Weathershield, with a 15 year guarantee against blistering, peeling and flaking. Almost any other Dulux or Colorbond colour is available to order for an extra $60.

Sizes and what fits in them

Outside diameter by height, with soil volume and empty weight.

• 28 x 29cm and 38 x 39cm. 15 litres at 3kg, and 40 litres at 6kg. Indoor plants and herbs.
• 48 x 48cm and 60 x 60cm. 77 litres at 10kg, and 150 litres at 16kg. The everyday outdoor sizes: a shrub, a small palm or a clipped standard.
• 75 x 75cm and 100 x 100cm. 290 litres at 26kg, and 500 litres at 60kg. Centrepiece pots that will hold a small tree. Both need two people to place.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Glass-reinforced concrete, cast and finished by hand, so expect small variations in tone and surface.

Outdoors. Rated for indoor and outdoor use. We do not publish a frost rating, so in hard frosting districts stop water sitting in the pot or under it.

Drainage. It has drainage holes: keep them clear and raise the pot on feet so water escapes freely. Cover them with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clogs. Add 50mm of 10mm gravel, then a premium potting mix, never garden soil. Indoors, stand it on a saucer.
