StoneLite Tall Tub

The StoneLite Tall Tub is a deep, round planter with generous shoulders, cast from glass-reinforced concrete in five sizes and eleven finishes. It holds more soil for its width than most round pots, which is why it suits plants that want depth: citrus, olives and anything you intend to keep for years.

Why you'll love it

• Depth where roots want it. The 56 x 67cm holds 160L and the 75 x 90cm holds 370L, so a permanent planting is not fighting for room.
• A third of the weight of solid concrete. That 370L tub is 35kg empty, and the 36 x 43cm is only 8kg.
• Reinforced walls. Glass fibre runs through the concrete, so the pot takes knocks that would crack an ordinary cast planter.
• Eleven finishes. Raw Concrete as standard, plus ten sprayed Dulux Weathershield colours, and custom colours to order for an extra $60.

Five sizes, quoted as outside width by height.

• 36 x 43cm, 39L, 8kg. A compact shrub or a herb planting by the back door.
• 42 x 50cm, 67L, 11kg. A dwarf citrus, or a flowering shrub that will stay put.
• 48 x 58cm, 97L, 15kg. A clipped standard, a gardenia or a small palm.
• 56 x 67cm, 160L, 19kg. An olive or a screening shrub with real root volume.
• 75 x 90cm, 370L, 35kg. A small tree, or a mass planting in one vessel.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Glass-reinforced concrete: a genuine concrete skin carried on a glass fibre matrix, which is where the weight saving comes from.

Outdoors. The sprayed colours are Dulux Weathershield and carry a 15 year guarantee against blistering, peeling and flaking. We hold no frost rating for the range, so in hard frosting districts keep the pot draining freely rather than assume it will cope with ice inside.

Drainage. Keep the drainage holes clear and raise the tub on feet so water can leave. Cover each hole with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, because both clog. Add 50mm of 10mm gravel, then a premium potting mix, never garden soil. Use a saucer indoors.
