GRC Giant Wok Bowl

The GRC Giant Wok Bowl is a wide, shallow bowl in glass reinforced concrete, 130cm to 200cm across and only 40cm to 50cm deep. It reads as a low pool of planting rather than a pot, which is why it works in a courtyard centre or at the foot of a stair, where a tall planter blocks the view.

• 130 x 40cm, 120 litres. A single dense planting of agave, aloe or clipped groundcover.
• 155 x 45cm, 160 litres. Enough width to compose in: structure through the centre, a low skirt to the rim.
• 200 x 50cm, 200 litres. A two metre feature at ankle height. Best planted as one idea repeated, not a mixed border.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Glass reinforced concrete is a concrete shell reinforced with glass fibre, which is how a bowl this wide stays practical to handle. It carries the texture of cast concrete without the mass.

Outdoors. The custom spray finishes are Dulux Weathershield. We publish no frost rating for the range, so treat that as unknown rather than assume it.

Drainage. It is drilled to drain. Keep the holes clear, stand the bowl on feet, and screen each hole with fibreglass flyscreen, not fabric or geofabric, which clogs. Lay 50mm of 10mm gravel, then a premium potting mix, never garden soil. A shallow bowl dries faster than a deep one, so plant species that want that.

Bowls ship empty. Rust dispatches in two to five business days; custom spray colours are made to order, so allow two to three weeks.
