StoneLite Cylinder Cluster 42W

The StoneLite Cylinder Cluster 42W is a set of three cylinders cast in glass-reinforced concrete, all 42cm across but standing 42cm, 59cm and 75cm high. Sold individually, they are designed to be grouped: matching width with stepped height is what makes a cluster look deliberate. Volumes run from 50 to 100 litres, empty weights from 10kg to 16kg.

Sizes and what fits in them

Three sizes, quoted as outside diameter by height.

• 42cm by 42cm, 50 litres. The low member of the group, for a mounded planting, clipped balls or trailing growth.
• 42cm by 59cm, 80 litres. The middle height, and the best single pot if you only buy one. Shrubs and strappy leaf plants.
• 42cm by 75cm, 100 litres. The upright of the set, for a narrow feature plant or a clipped standard. Aggressive roots will damage any planter.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Glass-reinforced concrete throughout, giving solid concrete looks at roughly a third of the weight, with the strength to take knocks that crack ordinary pots.

Outdoors. Made for outdoor use. The sprayed colours are Dulux Weathershield and carry a 15 year guarantee against blistering, peeling and flaking; raw concrete is supplied unsprayed.

Drainage. Each cylinder has drainage holes. Keep them clear and stand the pots on feet so water escapes. Cover the holes with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clog. Add 50mm of 10mm gravel, then premium potting mix, never garden soil. Indoors, use saucers.

What to expect when it arrives

Pots ship empty, packed to travel. Raw concrete is dispatched in 2 to 5 business days; custom spray colours are made to order, so allow 2 to 3 weeks, and order the group at once if you want colours to match.
