StoneLite Bullet Planter

The StoneLite Bullet Planter is a tall, tapered column cast from glass-reinforced concrete, giving genuine concrete looks at about a third of the weight. It comes in three sizes, 34 x 60cm, 44 x 80cm and 54 x 100cm, in 11 finishes. Height is what you are buying: a metre of planter lifts a plant above a balustrade without the floor space a wide pot demands.

Why you'll love it

• Tall without being heavy. The largest stands a full metre high and weighs 23kg empty, so two people can walk it into position. The reinforcement shrugs off knocks that crack an ordinary cast pot.
• Eleven finishes, one profile. Raw Concrete, plus White on White, Neutral Grey, Shale Grey, Concrete, Monument, Charcoal, Night Sky, Pale Eucalyptus, Terracotta and Paperbark Half.
• A paint system with a guarantee. The custom-spray colours are Dulux Weathershield, with a 15 year guarantee against blistering, peeling and flaking. Almost any other Dulux or Colorbond colour is available to order for an extra $60.

Sizes and what fits in them

All measurements are outside diameter by height.

• 34 x 60cm, 55 litres, 8kg. A single upright plant beside a door, or a matched pair at an entry.
• 44 x 80cm, 122 litres, 13kg. The middle size, with volume for a small feature tree or a substantial shrub.
• 54 x 100cm, 230 litres, 23kg. Run three or four in a line for a raised screen, or use one where a garden bed is not possible.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Glass-reinforced concrete, cast and finished by hand, so expect small variations in tone and surface.

Outdoors. We do not publish a frost rating, so in hard frosting districts stop water sitting in the pot or under it. Tall planters catch wind, so choose the position and plant accordingly.

Drainage. It has drainage holes: keep them clear and raise the planter on feet so water escapes freely. Cover the holes with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clogs. Add 50mm of 10mm gravel, then a premium potting mix, never garden soil.

What to expect when it arrives
