The Sherlock Home Use Poly Tray Wheelbarrow in 80L is the smaller of the two poly barrows, for gardeners who would rather make two comfortable trips than one heavy one. The tray is UV treated black polypropylene, the wheel is a standard 16 inch pneumatic on a steel rim, and it arrives fully assembled with a two year Sherlock warranty.

What it does

  • A size you can still push. Eighty litres fills quickly with soil or mulch, and the smaller tray keeps the load liftable rather than a two person job.
  • Tray built for sun. UV treated polypropylene with a double lip and an integrated shock board, which is what stops a poly tray going brittle and splitting along the base.
  • Rolls on air. The standard 16 inch pneumatic wheel on a steel rim absorbs ruts, dug beds and gravel that would stop a small hard wheel.
  • Steel underneath. Tubular legs and front stays, with powder coated steel handles and fitted grips.

How to use it

It arrives fully assembled, so there is nothing to build before the first load. Fill the front of the tray over the wheel rather than the back, lift with your legs, and let the wheel carry the weight. On sloping ground, work up and down the slope rather than across it.

Hose the tray out after use and let it dry, because damp mix sitting in the base is what marks and degrades poly. Check the tyre pressure from time to time, since a soft tyre makes a loaded barrow feel far heavier than it is. Store it undercover, on its nose or hung on a wall.

What it suits

Smaller gardens. Suburban blocks and courtyards rarely need a full size tray, and a barrow that is easy to steer gets used more often.

Weekly maintenance. Soil, mulch, plants and garden waste all move comfortably, and poly will not rust if it is left out in a shower.
