Can I get a colour that is not listed?

Yes. StoneLite, GRC and Terrazzo pots can be custom sprayed in almost any Dulux or Colorbond colour for an extra $60. Contact us before ordering.

The GRC Giant U Bowl is a deep, wide bowl in glass reinforced concrete, built at a scale most planters never reach: 120cm to 220cm across, holding 700 to 3,500 litres of mix. It is the piece for a forecourt or large garden where one planter carries a mature tree and still looks deliberate.

Why you'll love it

  • Root volume a tree can use. 700 litres at the smallest size and 3,500 litres at the largest, a genuine root run rather than a token bed.
  • Eleven finishes. The standard corten style rust plus ten Dulux Weathershield custom spray colours, guaranteed 15 years against blistering, peeling and flaking. Shades outside the ten are matched for an extra $60.
  • Lighter than the equivalent casting. The glass reinforced shell keeps the 3,500 litre bowl to 600kg empty. Still a machine lift, but a far smaller one.

Sizes and what fits in them

All measurements are outside dimensions, diameter by height.

  • 120cm diameter, 70cm to 100cm high, 700 to 950 litres. One advanced tree with a skirt of strappy natives.
  • 150cm diameter, 70cm to 100cm high, 1,050 to 1,500 litres. A mature specimen with room left for underplanting that will not compete.
  • 180 x 100cm, 2,300 litres. Semi advanced trees in a commercial entry or a wide turning circle.
  • 220 x 100cm, 3,500 litres. The largest, at 600kg empty. Plaza scale, and it needs plaza scale access.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Glass reinforced concrete is a concrete shell reinforced with glass fibre. Empty weights run from 180kg for the 120 x 70cm to 600kg for the 220 x 100cm, so plan the crane or forklift and a clear path before delivery.

Outdoors. The custom spray finishes are Dulux Weathershield. We publish no frost rating for the range and will not claim one.

Drainage. It is drilled to drain. Keep the holes clear and set the bowl on feet, then screen each hole with fibreglass flyscreen, not fabric or geofabric, which clogs. Lay 50mm of 10mm gravel, then a premium potting mix, never garden soil. Skip aggressive rooted trees: they break any planter.
