Yates Premium Potting Mix with Dynamic Lifter is a 30L bag of all-purpose mix for indoor and outdoor containers. It is enriched with Yates Dynamic Lifter organic soil improver and plant fertiliser, so the feeding is gentle and organic rather than a quick synthetic hit. One bag fills up to two 30cm pots.

What it does

  • Organic feeding, gently. Dynamic Lifter is blended through the mix and releases nutrition slowly, which suits plants that resent being pushed hard.
  • Biology, not just nutrients. The organic content encourages beneficial soil micro-organisms and earthworms, so the mix stays active rather than turning inert over a season.
  • Open and free draining. The blend drains freely, which keeps air in the root zone and prevents the waterlogging that ends most potted plants.
  • One mix across the garden. It is formulated for a wide range of indoor and outdoor potted plants, so there is no need to keep several specialty bags on hand.

How to use it

Work out how many bags you need from the pot size: 30L fills up to two 30cm pots, so a row of four planters that size takes two bags. Part fill the pot, position the plant, backfill to within a couple of centimetres of the rim and water thoroughly to settle the mix.

When repotting an established plant, replace the old mix completely rather than topping it up. Old mix compacts, sheds water off the surface and starves the roots of air. From there, water according to the season and the position, and supplement with feeding as the plant demands it.

What it suits

Outdoor containers. Patios, balconies and courtyard pots are the obvious home for a bag this size, and 30cm is a common planter diameter.

Vegetables and fruiting plants. Hungry crops in pots draw steadily on the organic nutrition in this mix through a growing season.
