Tumbleweed Worm Farm and Compost Conditioner is a blend of natural minerals that corrects acidity in a worm farm or compost bin. Composting systems drift acid as food waste breaks down, and once they do the worms slow, the microbes stall and the smell arrives. This is the sprinkle you keep beside the bin to stop that happening.

What it does

  • Holds the pH steady. A specially selected mineral blend neutralises the acidity that builds up in a working bin, keeping conditions in the range worms and microbes prefer.
  • Keeps the smell down. Sour, acidic systems are the ones that go on the nose. Correcting the balance removes the cause rather than masking it.
  • Speeds up digestion. In balanced conditions worms work through more food waste in the same time, so scraps clear faster.
  • Assists with pest control. It helps reduce pest activity in compost systems, which is usually a symptom of a bin that has gone sour.

How to use it

In a worm farm, sprinkle it evenly over the food waste as required, rather than digging it in. In a compost bin or a tumbling composter, apply it regularly through the active composting phase to hold acidity down and keep odours in check. There is no fixed dose on this product, so use it as needed and judge it by the bin: a sour smell, sluggish worms or slow breakdown all mean it is time for another light dusting. Carry on with normal turning and feeding routines around it. Follow the pack directions.

What it suits

Tray worm farms. Acidic conditions are the most common reason a domestic worm farm underperforms, and a regular light sprinkle over each new feed is the simplest fix.

Bins and tumblers. Enclosed compost systems have little air movement and can turn sour quickly, particularly on a run of kitchen scraps with no dry carbon to balance them.

Tumbleweed systems. It is made to pair with the Tumbleweed range, though it works in any home compost or worm system. Delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95 and a minimum order of $300 before delivery.

It is not a fertiliser and it is not a compost starter. It conditions the system, it does not feed the garden or introduce microbes.
