Scotts Osmocote Cacti and Succulent Controlled Release Fertiliser is a granular feed built for plants that resent being pushed. The 500g pack carries a lower nitrogen, higher potassium balance with boosted trace elements, and one application feeds for up to 6 months. It is formulated for cacti, succulents and bromeliads, in pots and in the ground.

What it does

  • Releases as the plant needs it. Controlled release granules feed steadily for up to 6 months instead of delivering everything in one flush, so far less leaches away.
  • Lower nitrogen, higher potassium. Less of the soft, sappy growth that heavy feeding forces on a succulent, and more support for steady growth, flowering and disease resistance.
  • Boosted trace elements. The minor nutrients are lifted above a standard blend, which supports general plant health rather than leaf size alone.
  • Gentle enough at planting. It will not burn soft leaves or young roots, so a new plant can be fed on the day it goes in.

How to use it

Sprinkle the granules evenly over the surface of the potting mix or soil, then water in well. Use the application rate printed on the pack and follow the label directions rather than judging it by eye. Keep the granules spread across the surface instead of piled against the stem, where a cactus or succulent is most easily marked.

It is safe to apply at planting, scattered on the surface or mixed through the top of the mix. One application lasts up to 6 months, so note the date and reapply then if the plant is still in the same mix. Keep the container closed and dry between uses.
