Scotts Osmocote Premium Plus Superior Potting Mix is the top of the Osmocote range in a 25 litre bag, the size to buy when a group of pots needs filling rather than one. Controlled release fertiliser feeds for up to six months, and a wetting agent with water crystals holds moisture in the pot so plants ride out hot weeks on less watering. It performs across all plant types, indoors and out.

What it does

  • Consistent nutrition for half a year. Scotts Osmocote controlled release fertiliser is blended right through the bag, so there is nothing to add at planting time.
  • Moisture held, then released. Water crystals store irrigation and hand it back as the pot dries, while the wetting agent keeps water soaking in evenly rather than sheeting off.
  • ScottsCoir as the peat replacement. A sustainable alternative to traditional peat with excellent water holding capacity.
  • Boosted trace elements and growth stimulants. Both drive root development and vigour, and both are already in the blend.

How to use it

Tip it straight into the pot. No mixing, no added fertiliser, no sand: the blend is finished as it comes. Plant, then water thoroughly, which wets the crystals through and starts the fertiliser prills releasing. Twenty five litres fills roughly one 300mm pot, or several smaller ones, so count your containers and their sizes before ordering. At the six month mark the built in feed is finished, so apply a suitable controlled release fertiliser if the plant is staying put.

What it suits

Pots and planters of any size. Indoor and outdoor containers both do well in it, which is what makes the larger bag worth buying over a small one.

Baskets that hang and dry. Exposed to moving air on every side, they lose water faster than anything else in a garden.
