Richgro Blood and Bone Based Fertiliser is a granular, organic based feed built on the oldest reliable recipe in Australian gardening, with phosphorus and potash blended in. Blood meal supplies fast acting organic nitrogen, so plants respond in weeks rather than months. The 5kg bag suits a gardener feeding vegetables, fruit trees and general beds through a growing season.

What it does

  • Fast acting organic nitrogen. Blood meal releases nitrogen quickly, which drives leaf growth and returns colour to a plant running hungry.
  • Phosphorus for roots and flowering. Bone and added phosphorus support root development and the flowering that precedes any fruit.
  • Potash for quality, not just bulk. The added potash goes to colour and flavour in fruit and vegetables rather than pushing soft growth.
  • Granular and simple to spread. It goes out by hand or spreader, with no mixing or measuring.

How to use it

Spread it evenly across the soil surface rather than heaping it against stems, then water it in well so the nitrogen reaches the root zone instead of sitting on dry ground. On established trees and shrubs, work around the drip line, where the feeding roots are, not against the trunk. Reapply through the growing season as the crop asks for it: tomatoes and citrus want feeding more often than an ornamental shrub.
