Richgro Black Marvel Rose and Flower Food is a high analysis granular fertiliser built for roses and flowering plants, supplied in a 10kg bag for gardeners with more than a token rose bed. It is high in potash for flowering and high in iron for root strength and leaf colour, with trace elements and a soil wetter blended through it.

What it does

  • Potash aimed at flowering. Bloom count, colour and how long the flowers hold on the bush all come back to this.
  • Iron for roots and foliage. Root development and the deep green leaf of a healthy flowering plant both depend on it.
  • Soil wetter blended in. Water is drawn down into the root zone instead of running off a dry, water repellent surface.
  • Fast, then sustained. Highly soluble granules give a quick response, and one application feeds gradually for up to two months.

How to use it

Spread the granules evenly around the base of the plant, out towards the drip line rather than heaped against the stem, then water in well. The watering does two jobs: it carries nutrient into the soil and it activates the soil wetter. Apply at the rates printed on the bag.

One application feeds for up to two months, so reapply as required through active growth and flowering rather than to a fixed calendar. A 10kg bag covers a full rose garden or a long flowering border, and it is the size worth buying once you are feeding more than a few plants.
