StoneLite Wok Bowl

The StoneLite Wok Bowl is a wide, shallow bowl cast from glass reinforced concrete, built for planting that spreads sideways rather than up. Three sizes run from 70 x 30cm holding 65 litres to 115 x 40cm holding 250 litres, in eleven finishes. At 8kg to 28kg empty it is about a third the weight of solid concrete, which is what makes a bowl this wide practical on a deck.

Sizes and what fits in them

Outside diameter by height, with the soil volume and empty weight.

• 70 x 30cm, 65 litres, 8kg. A single low feature, a succulent bowl, or three to five small shrubs planted as one group.
• 95 x 35cm, 120 litres, 15kg. The usual courtyard size, deep enough for a clipped ball underplanted around its base.
• 115 x 40cm, 250 litres, 28kg. A statement bowl for an entry or a pool surround. Two people to position it.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. A cement based shell reinforced with glass fibre, cast in a mould, then left in the standard finish or spray coated. It is tougher than a plain cast pot, though a hard knock on the rim can still chip it.

Outdoors. The standard concrete surface weathers and mellows in the open. Where the colour needs to stay put, take the custom spray finish.

Drainage. Drainage holes are provided, and a shallow bowl needs them working. Raise it on feet, cover each hole with fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric because both clog, then add 50mm of 10mm gravel before a premium potting mix. No saucer is included, so use a tray inside.

What to expect when it arrives

Bowls ship empty and packed for freight. Standard finish stock is dispatched in 2 to 5 business days; custom spray colours are made to order, so allow 2 to 3 weeks. Delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95. A 95 x 35cm bowl holds 120 litres of mix, so fill it in place.
