The StoneLite Classic Urn Pedestal is the plinth made to sit beneath the Classic Urn, cast from the same glass-reinforced concrete in the same ten finishes. It measures 34cm by 34cm by 51cm high and weighs 14kg. It is not a planter: its job is to lift an urn so the planting reads from across the garden.

  • 34cm by 34cm. Sized for the Classic Urn, which is 54cm across, so the urn oversails the plinth on every side as the design intends.
  • 51cm high. Brings a planted urn near waist height, which suits an entry, a path end or a courtyard corner.
  • 14kg empty. Light enough to reposition, heavy enough to stay put once an urn is sitting on it.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Glass-reinforced concrete, cast for the look of solid stone at about a third of the weight, with the strength to take knocks that crack ordinary pots.

Outdoors. Made for outdoor use, and the sprayed colour is guaranteed 15 years against blistering, peeling and flaking. Set it on level, firm paving so the urn above cannot rock.

Drainage. The pedestal holds no soil and has no planting volume, so drainage is the urn's business, not the plinth's. Keep the urn's holes clear, sit it on pot feet, cover them with fibreglass flyscreen rather than fabric or geofabric, and use 50mm of 10mm gravel under premium potting mix. Indoors, use a saucer.
