The Sherlock Black Poly Cart is a compact garden cart with an easy-tip tray, built for the everyday work of moving potting mix, mulch and garden waste. The tray holds 67 litres and the cart is rated to 150kg, so it takes a genuinely heavy load for its size.

What it does

  • Empties in one movement. The easy-tip configuration drops the load where you want it, which is the difference between one trip and ten more minutes with a shovel.
  • Carries 150kg. That is a high rating for a 67 litre tray, so wet soil, gravel and pavers are fair game rather than a stretch.
  • Air tyres on steel rims. The 10 inch by 3.5 inch pneumatic wheels roll over lawn, garden beds and rough ground far better than a small hard wheel.
  • Push or pull. A soft grip handle on a pivot design lets you steer from either end, which counts on a narrow path.

How to use it

Assembly is minimal and straightforward. Load the tray with the weight toward the axle rather than the far end, so the cart carries the load instead of your arms. To empty it, come to a stop, stand to the side rather than behind it, and let the tip do the work.

Hose the tray down after use and let it dry before storing it undercover. Check wheel pressure now and then, because a soft pneumatic tyre makes a full cart feel twice as heavy. At 920mm long by 510mm wide by 1020mm high it takes up little shed floor.

Everyday home gardening. Potting mix, mulch, soil and garden waste all move in a tray this size without the job needing two people.

Small and awkward yards. A compact footprint and a pivoting handle make it manoeuvrable where a full size barrow has to be reversed out.
