The Primo Black Mod Egg Pot is a glazed ceramic planter in a rounded egg form, finished in a high lustre black glaze over a lightly textured body. It comes in two sizes, 350mm and 440mm, and both are weather resistant enough to stand outside as well as in. The glaze is the reason to choose it: gloss black holds its depth behind green foliage where a flat finish goes dull.

Sizes and what fits in them

Two sizes, measured as outside diameter and height.

  • 350mm. 35cm across and 35cm tall, holding roughly 30 to 35 litres of mix. The right home for a feature foliage plant or a shrub stepping out of a 250mm nursery pot.
  • 440mm. 44cm across and 42cm tall, holding roughly 60 to 65 litres. Enough root room for a large feature plant or sculptural greenery.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Glazed ceramic. The body carries a light texture under the glaze, so the surface catches light rather than reading as flat black.

Outdoors. It is weather resistant and suited to a range of outdoor conditions. We do not publish a frost rating, so in hard frosting districts treat it as you would any glazed ceramic and keep water out of the base through winter.

Drainage. There is one drainage hole. It is not self-watering and no saucer is included, so add one underneath when the pot sits on timber or a polished floor indoors.
