This is a straightforward leaf rake made in Australia, with a 440mm plastic head on a natural timber handle. It is built for the light, repetitive work of clearing leaves, clippings and loose debris off lawns and hard surfaces. At 1420mm long overall it is a full height tool, so an adult can work standing upright rather than stooped.

What it does

  • Covers ground in fewer passes. The head is 440mm wide with 22 tines, so a single sweep gathers a useful width of lawn instead of nibbling at it.
  • Flexible plastic tines. The 190mm tines flex over uneven ground and around plants, then spring back, which is what lets a leaf rake gather without gouging turf.
  • Timber handle, 1180mm. Natural timber is warmer in the hand than steel through a long clean up, and the overall dimensions are 440mm wide, 1420mm long and 40mm deep.
  • Made in Australia. Manufactured locally, which is increasingly rare in a tool at this price.

How to use it

Work in short overlapping strokes and let the tines do the gathering rather than pressing down on the head. Pulling hard flattens the tines against the ground, which drags the debris instead of collecting it and wears the plastic faster. Rake into small piles as you go and move them, rather than pushing one growing pile across the whole lawn.

On paths and driveways, keep the strokes light. The plastic head sweeps loose debris off hard surfaces without scratching them. After use, shake the debris out of the tines or rinse the head with water. Store the rake in a dry place, or hang it, because a timber handle left standing in wet grass is the part that fails first.

What it suits

Soft ground. Lawns and garden beds, collecting fallen leaves and grass clippings through autumn and after mowing. Delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.

Hard surfaces. Paths, driveways and paved outdoor areas, for routine tidying where a stiff metal rake would mark the surface.

Not for. This is a light debris tool. Heavy wet soil, stones and levelling work are a job for a bow rake, and asking plastic tines to do it will break them.
