Yes. StoneLite, GRC and Terrazzo pots can be custom sprayed in almost any Dulux or Colorbond colour for an extra $60. Contact us before ordering.

The Old Stone Cannibal Jar is a high fired earthenware vessel with an unglazed, sandblasted surface, sold in two sizes: 60cm across by 50cm high, and 94cm by 68cm. It is a statement piece rather than a background pot, and the surface is the reason to choose it: unglazed earthenware gains character season after season instead of looking tired by its second summer.

  • Unglazed and sandblasted. A matte, stone like surface with no gloss to reflect the sun or show every scuff.

  • Weight that holds its position. At 48kg and 116kg empty, neither size moves in wind or gets knocked out of place.

Sizes and what fits in them

Two sizes, measured as outside diameter by height.

  • 60 x 50cm, 48kg. The usable size for most gardens. Enough soil for a structural specimen, a clipped shape or a substantial grass, and two people can position it.
  • 94 x 68cm, 116kg. An entry or courtyard centrepiece. It carries a small tree or a large feature plant, and holds its own left unplanted as a sculptural object.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. High fired earthenware throughout, unglazed, with a sandblasted surface. Colour and texture vary between pieces because the finish is not a uniform coating.

Outdoors. This is an outdoor pot and it is intended to weather. We make no frost or UV claim for it, so in hard frosting districts treat it as you would any unglazed earthenware and keep it raised, drained and out of standing water through winter.

Drainage. Keep the drainage holes clear and raise the jar on pot feet so water escapes freely. Cover each hole with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clog. Add a 50mm layer of 10mm gravel, then a quality premium potting mix, never garden soil. Choose plants suited to pots: aggressive root systems can damage any planter.
