The Matrix Jack Ferns Screen Panel is a 1800mm by 900mm decorative screen in charcoal, cut from 7mm UV stabilised material in a fern pattern. It gives roughly 63 per cent visual block-out, enough to hide a bin store or a neighbour's window without walling the space in. It suits courtyards, balconies and boundaries where a solid fence would feel heavy.

What it does

  • Screens without sealing off. The ferns pattern blocks approximately 63 per cent of the view, so it interrupts sightlines while still letting light and air move through.
  • UV stabilised for outdoor life. The material is stabilised against sunlight, which is what keeps a charcoal panel looking like charcoal after a few Australian summers.
  • Will not rot, rust or be eaten. Unlike timber lattice or steel, it is unaffected by moisture and insects, so it does not need painting or sealing at any point.
  • Backed for 15 years. The panel carries a 15 year structural warranty, which is a fair signal of how long it is expected to hold its shape.

How to use it

Panels fix to posts, frames or existing structures. At 7mm thick the panel is a screen rather than a structural element, so it needs a frame or fixing points around it to carry its own weight and take wind load. Support the full perimeter wherever you can.

Cut it to size with a standard wood saw. Measure the opening and cut the panel rather than building the frame to the panel, and mark out so the fern pattern stays balanced across the finished face. No painting or sealing is required, before or after cutting. Maintenance is limited to washing it down when it looks dusty.
