Can I get a colour that is not listed?

Yes. StoneLite, GRC and Terrazzo pots can be custom sprayed in almost any Dulux or Colorbond colour for an extra $60. Contact us before ordering.

The Italian Super Bloomer is a natural terracotta flower pot in a wide, shallow profile, sold in 270mm, 320mm and 370mm. The shape gives roots room to run sideways rather than down, which is what most annuals and flowering plants want, and the unglazed clay lets air and moisture move through the wall. Drainage holes are included in every size.

Sizes and what fits in them

Sizes are the diameter across the rim. Volumes are approximate and allow for the tapered wall.

  • 270mm. 133mm high, about 6 to 7 litres. A single flowering plant, a clump of herbs, or a tight trio of annuals.
  • 320mm. 164mm high, about 10 to 12 litres. Room for an azalea or a full seasonal display of five or six annuals.
  • 370mm. 175mm high, about 14 to 16 litres. The size for a massed bowl of zinnias or a standing feature by a door.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Natural terracotta, unglazed and unsealed. Brush the soil off or rinse it clean when you replant.

Outdoors. Approved for indoor and outdoor use. Left outside, unglazed clay picks up mineral salts and softens to a patina. It is not sold with a frost rating, and porous clay holds water in its wall, so in hard frosting districts move it under cover for winter.

Drainage. Drainage holes are included. No saucer is supplied and matching saucers are sold separately, so plan on one for a timber deck, a tiled floor or any indoor position. Terracotta dries faster than plastic or glazed ceramic: use a free draining mix and expect to water more often in summer.
