GRC Tall Egg

The GRC Tall Egg is a glass reinforced concrete pot in four sizes, from a 20 litre pot 39cm across to a 120 litre pot 72cm across. The standard finish is a warm corten style rust that reads well against green foliage, with ten Dulux Weathershield spray colours available instead.

Sizes and what fits in them

Four sizes, listed as diameter by height. All measurements are outside dimensions.

• 39 x 38cm. 20 litres, 5kg empty. Herbs, compact foliage and a single small feature plant on a balcony.
• 48 x 47cm. 40 litres, 7.5kg empty. Dwarf shrubs, strappy leaf plants and mid sized foliage.
• 57 x 56cm. 75 litres, 13kg empty. Shrubs, small citrus and clipped topiary.
• 72 x 69cm. 120 litres, 20kg empty. A small tree, a large shrub, or a matched pair either side of an entry.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Glass reinforced concrete, moulded with a thin reinforced wall, so it has the texture of concrete at a fraction of the mass. The largest size is a comfortable two person lift empty.

Outdoors. These are outdoor pots, used in commercial work as well as home gardens. Almost any Dulux or Colorbond colour can be sprayed to order for an extra $60.

Drainage. Drainage holes are included and must stay clear. Raise the pot on feet, cover each hole with fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clogs. Add a 50mm layer of 10mm gravel, then fill with premium potting mix, never garden soil. Keep aggressive rooting plants out of it.

What to expect when it arrives

Each pot ships empty and unplanted. Rust finish pots are dispatched in 2 to 5 business days; the sprayed colours are made to order, so allow 2 to 3 weeks. A 72 x 69cm pot is light enough to carry but immovable once filled, so decide the position first. Delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.
