The Forest Green Holland Planter is a glazed ceramic pot in the traditional rounded, tapered shape, finished in a deep forest green with a high lustre glaze. It comes in four sizes from 240mm to 460mm across, each one as tall as it is wide, so the proportions suit a single plant rather than a spreading arrangement. The glaze is the reason to buy it: green foliage against a green glaze is one of the few colour pairings that never dates.

  • 240mm. 24cm across and 24cm tall, roughly 8 to 10 litres. Bulbs, herbs and compact flowering plants.
  • 300mm. 30cm across and 30cm tall, roughly 18 to 22 litres. Flowering annuals and decorative foliage.
  • 370mm. 37cm across and 37cm tall, roughly 35 to 40 litres. Feature plants and small shrubs.
  • 460mm. 46cm across and 45cm tall, roughly 65 to 75 litres. Established shrubs and long term plantings.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Glazed ceramic with a smooth, high lustre surface. It is a solid pot, noticeably heavier than composite or fibreglass of the same size, which is an advantage in wind and a nuisance on stairs.

Outdoors. Suitable for outdoor use in most conditions, in gardens, on patios and in courtyards. No frost rating is published for the glaze, so we will not claim one: where winters freeze hard, keeping it under eaves is the cautious approach.

Drainage. The drainage hole is already there. Indoors, use a saucer to protect flooring, since water will run straight through. Saucers are sold separately.
