Can I get a colour that is not listed?

Yes. StoneLite, GRC and Terrazzo pots can be custom sprayed in almost any Dulux or Colorbond colour for an extra $60. Contact us before ordering.

The Black Terrazzo Trough is a fibrecement planter from the Precinct Lite range, finished in a textured black terrazzo look that reads like poured stone without the weight. It comes in two lengths, 600mm and 800mm, both deep enough for real root volume rather than a token strip of herbs. It gives you the presence of a concrete trough on a balcony or a suspended slab.

Why you'll love it

  • Stone look without stone weight. Fibrecement is far lighter than cast concrete, so one person can position an 800mm trough and move it again later.
  • Terrazzo texture in flat black. The speckled finish gives the surface depth up close, and holds its own against render, timber and dark aluminium.
  • Drainage built in. A drainage hole is moulded into the base, so water leaves the trough instead of sitting under the roots.
  • Works inside and out. Rated for both, so one look runs from an entry through to a courtyard.

Sizes and what fits in them

Two sizes, both measured as a long rectangle rather than a round pot.

  • 600mm. 60cm long, 24cm wide, 30cm high, about 30 to 35 litres. A run of herbs, a line of compact grasses, or three small flowering plants.
  • 800mm. 80cm long, 31cm wide, 36cm high, about 55 to 65 litres. A section of low clipped hedge, a mixed planting, or one shrub with something trailing over the edge.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Textured fibrecement in a black terrazzo look finish. It feels rigid and solid, but it is not cast concrete, so treat it as a planter rather than a step or a seat.

Outdoors. Rated for indoor and outdoor use. Seal the trough with a suitable sealant before you plant, which protects the finish and slows the staining that wet potting mix causes.

Drainage. The drainage hole is built in and no saucer is included. Indoors, stand it on a tray if the floor beneath it matters. Outdoors, let it drain freely.
