The Atlantis Skorpio is a broad ceramic pot, 72cm across and 92cm tall, holding 330 litres of mix. It is hand made in Vietnam, double fired for frost resistance, and finished in the textured aged glaze that gives the range its weathered look. Choose it when you want the volume of a tree planter without the boxy shape of one.

  • 72cm by 92cm, 330 litres. Suits a small tree, a mature olive, a large citrus or a well grown palm.
  • For layered planting. The width takes a central feature plant with a skirt of trailing plants around the rim.
  • Left empty. A 330 litre pot at 110kg is a feature in its own right on a lawn edge or a paved terrace.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Hand made ceramic from Vietnam, double fired, with a heavily textured aged glaze in natural tones. It weighs 110kg before it is filled.

Outdoors. The frost resistance comes from the double firing, and the glaze is designed to weather. Expect it to gather patina in sun and rain rather than stay as it arrived.

Drainage. Keep the drainage holes clear and raise the pot on feet so water escapes freely. Cover each hole with one layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clog. Add 50mm of 10mm gravel, then a premium potting mix rather than garden soil, and avoid aggressive roots, which damage any planter. Under cover it needs a saucer.
