The Atlantis Lotus Pond is the widest bowl in the Atlantis range, a hand-made Vietnamese ceramic vessel 79cm across and 61cm high, holding 340L. It is double-fired for frost resistance and finished in a richly textured aged glaze, so every piece carries its own depth of colour. Despite the name it is supplied as a planter with drainage holes, not a sealed water bowl, and 340L is a lot of root room in one vessel.

Material. Hand-made ceramic from Vietnam, double-fired and glazed by hand, so colour depth and texture vary between pieces.

Outdoors. Double firing gives the frost resistance, and the aged glaze mellows outside rather than staying uniform. Set it on level, firm ground so a bowl this wide settles evenly.

Drainage. It has drainage holes that must be kept clear, so treat it as a planter, not a water feature. Raise it on feet so water escapes freely. Cover the holes with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clog. Add a 50mm layer of 10mm gravel, then a quality premium potting mix, never garden soil.
