A silicone seal and locking clips close the bin completely, which keeps the process free of adverse smells and fruit flies. A 500ml bottle of liquid Bokashi is included.

What it does

  • Complete air seal. The silicone seal and locking clips shut the bin properly, and Bokashi fermentation only works with the air kept out.
  • Takes all food waste. Cooked food, meat, fish, fruit, vegetables and dairy all go in, which covers most of what leaves a kitchen.
  • No smells or fruit flies. Because the contents ferment rather than rot in a sealed 14 litre bin, it can live under the sink or on a benchtop.
  • Starter supplied. The 500ml bottle of liquid Bokashi introduces the beneficial microorganisms that begin breaking waste down quickly.

How to use it

Add food scraps as they come out of the kitchen, apply the liquid Bokashi to activate fermentation, then close the lid on its locking clips. Keep the bin sealed between additions, since every opening lets air in and slows the process. Follow the directions supplied with the Bokashi liquid for how much to add. When the bin is full and fermentation has run its course, dig the material into a garden bed, or add it to an outdoor compost bin. Bury it rather than leaving it on the surface. Rinse between batches and check the seal is seated before clipping down.
